The BOB Stroller Strides Fitness model was released after BOB teamed up with a nationwide exercise program called Stroller Strides®.
It is a very popular stroller-based fitness program designed for moms who want to get in shape while spending time with their kids outdoors (no babysitter!). It incorporates power walking, strength, toning, songs, and activities.
The BOB Stroller Strides Fitness Stroller is based on a top-selling BOB Revolution model.
And just like Revolution, it has 16″ tires and high-impact polymer wheels. Both strollers are identical, which is why you are not going to find separate reviews for this stroller.
The only difference is when you order the Fitness model, you will get a parent console ($30 if you buy it separately) and a fitness kit that includes two exercise tubes of different tension, a Stroller Strides exercise manual, and coupons for a week of free Stroller Strides classes. Oh, almost forgot! The most important feature of this stroller is its red color.
The MSRP for this Fitness model is $469, which is only $20 more than the Revolution SE model (MSRP $449). I guess if you buy a Fitness model, you will save $10 on the parent console. Other than that I don’t see the point. To me, it looks like BOB has added a red Revolution to its line of strollers and gave it a different name to confuse the parents. Features
CANOPY
Just like in the Revolution, it has a great large canopy that will provide plenty of shade for your child. It also has a very big peekaboo window with a noisy Velcro closure.
SEAT
The seat has padding for the back and the bottom. There is also added padding for the shoulders on the 5-point harness. The seat reclines down 70° from a vertical position. If you want to recline it, all you need to do is to adjust two straps in the back. I like the durable material of the seat.
It is so easy to clean. My baby Sophia is very messy and I had no problems cleaning up the seat with just some soapy water. Unfortunately, this material is not washing machine-safe and should not be cleaned with detergent.
There is a large pocket in the back of the seat that is great for keys, phone, and wallet. I hate to dig in the diaper bag for a ringing phone.
HARNESS
The stroller features a comfortably padded, adjustable 5-point harness, complete with a center release buckle.
BASKET
The basket underneath the seat is very roomy. I can fit 2 diaper bags in there. Plenty of room for toys and extra clothes.
WHEELS
High-impact polymer composite wheels will go through any tough terrain. The back tires are 16″ just like on the SE model while the front wheel is 12″. It can be locked or unlocked depending on the activity.
It is a very convenient feature to be able to unlock the wheel when you are taking the stroller to the store. Some of the jogging strollers have a permanently straight front wheel which makes it hard to navigate in small spaces.
The state-of-the-art adjustable suspension system makes the stroller glide on any uneven surface.
BRAKE
Easy to reach one-foot brake is located between two rear wheels. It’s not flip-flop-friendly.
FOLD/UNFOLD
It is a two-step fold that you will need to use both hands for. Also, there is no automatic lock. You will need to manually lock the folded stroller using a clip attached to the handlebar. The stroller doesn’t stand on its own when folded which is definitely a minus.
Cons
Just like in the SE model, it has things that could be improved.
-No automatic lock. The previous model didn’t have a lock, so this manual one is an improvement. But I don’t think BOB should stop there. We want an automatic lock now!
-Two-step fold. Not only do you have to fold it in two steps, but then you have to lay it flat on the ground and lock it. I like one-hand one-step fold so much better.
-Handlebar. There is no adjustment for taller or shorter parents. This is the biggest complaint for this stroller from all the parents. I hope BOB is listening and will give us the adjustment in the next model.
-Bulky. Just like SE, the Fitness model is very bulky and doesn’t fit in every trunk. You might want to measure your trunk before buying it. The folded dimensions are 39″L x 25.5″W x 16″H.
