Britax B-Agile Stroller Review

britax_b_agile-2016-15

The Britax B-Agile is a lightweight stroller that is a big competition for City Mini.

Just like City Mini, it has an easy one-hand fold and weighs only 16.5 lbs! You can take it to the mall, park, or for a walk around your neighborhood. B-Agile is designed for parents on the go who take their child with them when running errands and traveling.

While it’s not an all-terrain stroller, it can handle some of the terrain if you take it off-road. The rubber wheels will have no problem tackling mulch, grass, and gravel, while all-wheel suspension will absorb some of the bumps providing your child with a smooth ride. This is a truly one-handed stroller that is very easy to push and navigate, especially on flat surfaces.

B-Agile is a VERY stable stroller (especially for being so light) that’s not going to flip over if you hang a bag on the handlebar. It has great features like a huge canopy, a roomy seat, and a large mesh window in the back.

The seat has a very deep recline that can accommodate a newborn. This stroller can be used from birth and up to 55 lbs. You can easily convert it into a travel system by using the included car seat adapter.

I gave it 5 out of 5 stars because I think it’s one of the best lightweight strollers on today’s market. B-Agile can be purchased for around $220.

Features

CANOPY

The canopy is absolutely great. It will protect your child from the sun at any time of the day. It has three panels with a large peekaboo window. The peekaboo window is made out of black mesh that provides some shade while allowing for the air to get in. The closure is a noisy Velcro that I don’t like (I wish it was magnetic).

HANDLEBAR

It has one handlebar, so you can talk on the phone and push the stroller at the same time (I call it a cell-phone-friendly handlebar).

Although it is non-adjustable, it is conveniently positioned in the middle 40″ from the ground to accommodate taller and shorter parents. Of course, it would be nice to have an adjustable handlebar.

SEAT

It is 13.5″ wide and 25″ from the back of the seat to the top of the canopy. This is a huge seat. Even your 4-year-old will fit in it (not like they need to be in the stroller at four). The stroller can be used from birth and up to 55 lbs.

It has a nice infant headrest that will provide extra support for your newborn. The infinite strap recline offers many positions to choose from. You need only one hand to recline it, but two hands to bring it back up.

The recline is nearly flat and can be used for the newborn (I would recommend waiting at LEAST for 3 months before putting your baby into the stroller). The seat is not very upright. I know some kids like my baby Sophia LOVE to sit very upright.

After reclining the seat, if you lift the back of the canopy, you will see large mesh window. It will provide nice air circulation on the hot summer day. And you can always cover it if the weather gets windy or cold.

HARNESS

It is a padded adjustable 5-point harness. The buckle requires a lot of pressure so your 4-year-old wouldn’t be able to unlock it. A pad that protects the belly from the buckle is conveniently sewn right to the seat.

If you recline the seat, you will see a large zipper pocket in the back of the canopy. It is great for small items.

If you want to have even more storage, I would suggest getting a universal stroller organizer that can hold not only your coffee cup, but also a LOT of stuff including keys, phone, water, wallet, snacks, diapers, toys, and more. The amount of stuff it can fit is unbelievable.

Although it is not adjustable, it is very comfy. The leg drop is 10″ tall which is great for older kids.

BASKET

Recently, the basket has been improved. It’s a little larger and sits deeper so you can fit much more stuff than before. You can easily access it from the back of the sides.

Here is how the basket looks from the back.

WHEELS

It has three rubber wheels, with 9.5″ wheels in the back and 5.5″ double wheels in the front. The front wheel is swivel but can be locked in place for more stability. These wheels will have no problem tackling grass, mulch, or gravel.

I love it when strollers have an all-wheel suspension system. It makes the ride so much smoother for a child. While it is not an all-terrain stroller, the suspension will help to absorb some of the bumps if you decide to take it off the road.

BRAKE

It has one pedal brake located on the right wheel. You can lock both rear wheels just by stepping on it.

FOLD/UNFOLD

I absolutely LOVE it! Just like City Mini, B-Agile has that easy one-hand fold parents want. You can hold a child in one hand and fold the stroller with the other. How great is that? I like the fact that you don’t need to bend down to fold it.

First, push the safety button located on the side of the stroller to unlock the folding mechanism. Next, pull the strap located in the middle of the seat and the stroller will fold.

The automatic lock will ensure the stroller will stay folded. Easy!!! And the weight is ONLY 16.5 lbs – it’s nothing!!! (that’s probably the weight of my diaper bag. LOL) You can just pull the strap and throw it into the trunk.

I usually don’t hold my child while doing it, but I always have something like a diaper bag or a cell phone in the other hand. Note: It does not stand on its own. It is very compact. The folded dimensions are 22.75″W x 10″H x 29″L.

CAR SEAT ADAPTERS

INCLUDED! Now, you can transform your stroller into a travel system. It works only with Britax Chaperone and B-Safe infant car seats (top-rated car seats), which I think they did on purpose so you would buy their car seats. Smart! If you want to use other car seats like Graco, Chicco, and Peg Perego, you will need to purchase a universal car adapter separately.

Cons

-No bumper bar. I wish the was a bumper bar or a snack tray included.

-Non-adjustable handlebar. The handlebar is 40″ from the ground which might not work for much taller or shorter parents. Test it first! Also, think about all the grandparents and friends who might be pushing the stroller.

  1. Just bought Britax B-Agile double stroller and you do have to re-thread the shoulder harness which is pretty much impossible to do. Bought 4/2018

  2. Thanks for the review, Katrin! Could you explain why you would recommend waiting three months to have a baby use the stroller? Is this best practice for all strollers without flat backs or bassinets? Thanks!

  3. Given this seemingly glowing 5/5 individual review, I was surprised to not find this stroller on your Top 20 list. How come it didn’t make the cut?

  4. Would you recommend the Britax travel system over the City Mini priced at 200 dollars more. I am a grandpa to be again and the parents have registered on a site and have suggested the City Mini

    Your thoughts greatly appreciated

    Ron

  5. I am more confused than ever. I need a stroller that’s lightweight for travel, can recline & handle cobblestone streets comfortably for my 18 mo old. Help!!!
