NEW! Maclaren Techno Arc 2019 Stroller Review

The Maclaren Techno Arc 2019 is an updated version of the beloved Techno model. Just like the Quest Arc, it got a single adjustable handle bar instead of the double handles. The canopy was also completely redesigned and now provides even more coverage and air ventilation.

They’ve also added memory foam to the leg rest for more comfort. Finally the front wheels are now single instead of double. Everything else stayed the same. It still features: roomy seat, one-hand full recline suitable for a newborn, 55 lbs weight limit, nice basket, adjustable leg rest and additional storage.

The 6″ wheels together with all-wheel suspension provide a smooth ride. Despite all the upgrades the Techno Arc weighs stayed the same around 15 lbs. There is still no travel system option, but you can use the seat to create a newborn safe cocoon-like environment or get a carrycot that inserts into the seat. The included head hugger and shoulder pads will provide additional comfort.

This buggy comes in two colors and retails for around $420 which is more expensive than the older version. I think it’s a great stroller, but the price is higher than I would like to see. If you don’t want to spend that much on an umbrella stroller, you can take a look at the Maclaren Quest Arc which costs only $345 and is almost identical to Techno Arc except for the smaller 5″ wheels.

NEW! Maclaren Quest Arc 2019 Stroller Review

For 2019 Maclaren has completely redesigned their Quest model to compete with other lightweight models on the market. While it still has that long umbrella fold the new Quest Arc 2019 model sports a single handle bar instead of the double (like on most other umbrella strollers) and comes in beautiful new colors.

As you probably know Maclaren Quest is one of my favorite models in umbrella category aside from the UPPAbaby G-Luxe. It’s stylish and is full of great features like huge canopy, adjustable leg rest, adjustable handle bar, good size basket, all-wheel suspension and additional storage.

NEW! Babyzen YoYo+ Plus 2019 Stroller Review

The Babyzen YoYo+ Plus is an amazing lightweight stroller that folds into the smallest package I’ve EVER seen and I’ve seen a LOT of packages! LOL. The YoYo+ is even more compact than a very popular Mountain Buggy Nano.

This might be the BEST travel stroller ever because it fits into the overhead luggage compartment on a plane and is allowed as a carry-on by most airlines.

No more carrying a baby to the baggage reclaim while praying for your stroller to arrive in one piece. And since it weighs only 13.6 lbs, you can easily carry it over your shoulder.

Despite the compact size, this is a very sturdy stroller that feels very solid. The frame is made out of high quality lightweight aluminum which is light and durable at the same time. I was happy to see a very roomy seat with plenty of headroom for a taller child.

NEW! GB Pockit+ Plus 2018/2019 Stroller Review

I was blown away by the GB new compact stroller called ‘Pockit’ which is the Guinness World Records smallest stroller! It folds to a tiny package that you can put in your purse.

I thought it couldn’t get any cooler than that, but this year GB came up with a new Pockit+ Plus 2018/2019 model that doesn’t only have a compact fold, but also can turn into a travel system. Wow!

The folded dimensions have slightly increased and now are 12.6″ x 7.9″ x 15″. The weight also have increased and is now 13 lbs instead of 9 lbs. Still very light and very compact model! You should have no problem taking it on board of any airline since it’s way below the maximum size for the carry-on.

The Plus model can be paired with GB or Cybex infant car seat (adapters required; sold separately). They’ve also added a small strap recline to the seat, but you still have to use it from 6 months.

QUICK PROS & CONS

Pros Cons
Light Weight X Small Canopy
Super Compact Fold X Small Wheels
Small Recline X No Accessories
Travel System Option X No Suspension

MY RATING:

[yasr_overall_rating size=”large”]

OVERALL

I gave this stroller 5 out of 5 stars because for the most compact stroller in the world it has some great features. Just like the original model Pockit+ Plus features good size basket, adjustable 5-point harness, roomy seat, and one-step brake. It rolls on small 4.5″ wheels that are design for flat surfaces only. Taking it to the park or city streets with uneven sidewalks will be a bumpy ride since there is no suspension.

This model is perfect for parents who travel a lot and run errands so the stroller will be used mostly inside of the airport, mall, or store. It will be ok in the park with an even surface like a theme park for example. I think Mountain Buggy Nano, Babyzen Yoyo+ Plus, and GB Qbit+ Plus have an even more serious competition now.

Note: There has been no changes for 2019.

For 2018/2019 they’ve improved the canopy which can provide some shade now. It’s still small, but much better than before. The basket is still a decent size which is definitely a plus.

PRICE

This model comes in two colors and retails for around $229. I think the price is very reasonable for such a compact stroller.

Detailed Review of GB Pockit+ Plus 2018/2019 Stroller

Here is my detailed review of all the features with photos and overview video.

CANOPY

The Pockit+ Plus has a much better canopy than the previous model where it was barely there. Still it does not provide much sun protection. It doesn’t have a viewing window nor sunvisor.

HANDLEBAR

It has interesting handle bars that are looking more outward and forward than usual. They are covered with nice soft foam. As you probably have guessed they are not adjustable. They are located 39″ from the ground which is an average height for non-adjustable handle bars.

SEAT

The seat is very roomy and since the canopy almost non-existent, you can fit in a very tall child. The seat is 11.5″ wide with 21″ seat back and a measurement of 25″ from the back of the seat to the top of the canopy. The seat has a small strap recline and a zipper at the top to recline the seat even more. It can accommodate a child from 6 months and up to 55 lbs.

There is an adjustable padded 5 point harness with a center release buckle in the middle and a crotch padding.

BASKET

Comparing to full size strollers the basket is small but for such a compact stroller its not bad at all. You can probably fit your medium size diaper bag. It’s also easily accessible from the back and can hold up to 11 lbs!

gb-pockit-plus19

WHEELS

It rolls on 4.5″ EVA wheels with swivel front wheels that can be locked straight. These wheels are designed for flat surfaces only and not going to handle any other terrain.

BRAKE

There is a one-step brake located on the right rear wheel that will lock both of the rear wheels in place. It’s not flip-flop-friendly.

FOLD/UNFOLD

The fold is super compact. You can almost put it in your pocket! It will definitely fit into my large diaper bag. This is a great news for traveling parents who wants to take their stroller on board on ANY airlines.

Just like the Pockit, the Plus model is way below the maximum size for the carry-on. It has folded dimensions of 12.6″ x 7.9″ x 15″. Weighing only 13 lbs, it’s very easy to carry over the shoulder when not needed. There is no automatic lock, but there is a manual one. There is also standing fold which is probably not going to be used much since it’s just easier to hold it in your hands than bending down to the ground.

Here is the most compact fold.

gb-pockit-plus21

It can be also folded with the car seat adapters attached.

gb-pockit-plus14

TRAVEL SYSTEM

You can turn Plus model into a travel system! I did not see this coming. It’s surprising that such a small stroller can accept a car seat. Plus model is compatible with GB or Cybex infant car seat (adapters required; sold separately). BTW, Cybex infant car seats are one of the best and safest on the market.

UPPAbaby G-Lite 2018 Stroller Review

The UPPAbaby G-Lite 2018 is a light umbrella stroller that is a smaller and lighter version of the G-Luxe model. Weighing only 11 lbs, it’s perfect for running errands and public transit.

The narrow frame allows you easily navigate in narrow store aisles and small spaces. It’s very easy to push even with a heavy child in the seat.

It rolls on 4.7″ double plastic wheels that can tackle some of the mommy terrain like grass or mulch. While the all-wheel suspension absorbs some of the bumps, G-Lite is clearly designed for flat surfaces.

It has a roomy mesh seat that sits at a slight angle. For 2018 they’ve added a small zipper recline, but you still have to use it from 6 months. Honestly, I was very surprised to see a high 55 lbs weight limit. It should take you through all the toddler years without a problem. BTW, there is NO TRAVEL SYSTEM option which I didn’t expect to see on 11 lbs stroller.

The large basket underneath the seat (for an umbrella model) can fit a medium size diaper bag. Of course I wouldn’t go grocery shopping with it, but you can fit all of the baby essentials (up to 10 lbs).

I was also able to attach an organizer to the handle bars for small essentials and a cup holder. BTW, the cup holder is included, but it fills more secure and easier to access my coffee from the organizer. Anyways, if you take a 55 lbs child and add another 10 lbs for the stuff in the basket, this baby can carry a lot of stuff! Great for a day at the park when you are just too tired to carry all that crap. LOL.

Another feature that a love in G-Lite is a large updated UPF 50+ canopy with pop-out sunvisor. Because the canopy is not attached to the back of the seat, you can bring it forward making sure your child is shielded from every angle.

I gave it 5 out of 5 stars because although it has a very small recline, it’s a high quality umbrella stroller that is very inexpensive. You can get 2018 model in two colors for around $199. It comes with a cup holder.

UPPAbaby G-Luxe 2018 Stroller Review

The UPPAbaby G-Luxe 2018 is a luxury umbrella stroller that is very light and compact. For 2018 it has been completely redesigned.

Now it has more robust sturdier frame with a plastic leg rest in the front making it much easier for your child to climb into the seat. Before, there was just a rubber leg rest that didn’t offer much support.

The canopy now has three panels with pop-out sunvisor instead of one panel. It looks a little more modern while providing the same great coverage.

The wheels are now made out of rubber and have slightly changed in size. The front wheels are single now and are 5.5″ while the rear wheels are still double and are 5.7″. Not a big difference there.

They’ve also updated the brake to two flip-flop-friendly pedals. No more shoe scratches! The basket stayed the same size, but is now easier to access from the back. They’ve moved the shoulder strap to the side so it doesn’t get in the way when you are trying to get into the basket.

Baby Jogger City Mini Zip Stroller Review

city-mini-zip-stroller20Baby Jogger City Mini Zip is a lightweight stroller that is some where in between the full size and an umbrella stroller. While having a lot of great features like large canopy, roomy seat, deep recline, and adjustable leg rest it has a very compact three-dimensional fold where it folds not only vertically, but also horizontally.

This small package is 50%  more compact than on standard umbrella strollers and is 1/8 the volume of the open stroller. Great for traveling! And since it weighs only 17 lbs, it’s super easy to load in and out of the car. Although it says that this is a one-hand fold, I did need both hands to push it together to activate the auto lock.

Keep in mind, that despite it’s name ‘Baby Jogger’ this is NOT a jogging stroller. I know many parents get confused by the name of the brand. This buggy is designed for running errands, quick trips to the store and traveling. While it could be your ONLY stroller because it does have a travel system option, I would recommend using it as a second lightweight stroller instead of an umbrella model because of the wheel size.

Maclaren Quest 2016 Umbrella Stroller Review

maclaren-quest-2016-2The Maclaren has been a leader in the stroller industry when it comes to umbrella models. Parents love them for high quality, durability, and light weight. The Quest 2016 is no different. It weighs ONLY 12.3 lbs while being able to accommodate a child from birth and up to 55 lbs.

The seat is very roomy with deep one-hand recline that goes to almost a flat position suitable for a newborn. The adjustable leg rest provides plenty of stretching room for a baby.

The canopy is amazing! It has a zipped in panel and a pop-out sunvisor that make it huge. One of the best canopies you can find on an umbrella model that are known for their small useless canopies.

The is plenty of storage with upgraded basket and a storage pocket in the back of the seat.  While there is not travel system option, which I didn’t expect at such a low weight, you can use it with a carrycot for a newborn.
