Britax B-Nimble Stroller Review

britax_b_nimble1

Britax B-Nimble is a lightweight umbrella stroller that has a lot of great features of a full-size stroller and can be transformed into a travel system, which not many umbrella strollers can do.

It has a very roomy seat with a deep recline and a weight capacity of 55 lbs.v The B-Nimble rolls on hard rubber 5.5″ wheels and performs best on a flat surface.

Now, this is not an all-terrain stroller, so you will have difficulties going over grass, mulch, or gravel. It’s great for on-the-go parents who like to go to the mall, grocery store, or run errands around town.

It weighs only 14 lbs and can be carried over the shoulder by using an attached strap. Other features include an adjustable footrest, easy fold, and a lot of storage. It also comes with a number of accessories like a cup holder, car seat adapter, adapter strap, and rain cover.

OVERALL

I gave it 5 out of 5 stars because aside from a small canopy it’s a great stroller. You can buy it for around $190 – $280. If the small canopy is not a big deal for you, this stroller is a great deal, especially with all of the included accessories. It’s available only in green and red.

Features

CANOPY

The canopy is small by my standards, but it does have a small extendable sun visor that doesn’t do much. This canopy would definitely NOT work for my daughter Sophia who hates it when the sun gets into her eyes.

Plus, when she falls asleep in the stroller, I like to bring the canopy down to create more shade. This canopy is attached to the frame and does NOT convert into a so-called ‘floating canopy’. It has a large peekaboo window with a noisy Velcro closure (I wish it would be magnetic).

HANDLEBARS

There are two non-adjustable handlebars located 41″ from the ground. I think the height will work for taller parents very well. Much shorter parents should test it first.

SEAT

It’s 14″ wide and 28″ high from the back of the seat to the top of the canopy. It can hold a child from birth and up to 55 lbs. Now, I wouldn’t put a newborn into an umbrella stroller just because little babies need more neck support and a smoother ride.

It has an infinite recline operated by a strap system. It is a deep recline that goes almost to a flat position.  I would like to see a one-hand lever recline instead. The great thing about the seat is that you can easily remove the fabric and wash it!

There is a large storage pocket in the back of the seat where you can store all of your mommy essentials like sunglasses, sunscreen, and cell phone.

HARNESS

It has a 5-point non-padded harness with a center release button that is hard to unlock, so your little one will not be able to escape. Perfect!

FOOTREST

It is a nice feature to have for an umbrella stroller. The footrest has only two positions: horizontal and at an angle.

BASKET

As with most umbrella strollers, the basket is small and can only fit some baby items. Fitting a diaper bag will be a struggle. If the seat is fully reclined, the access is very limited.

WHEELS

It rolls on four double hard rubber wheels that are 5.5″. The front wheels are swivel but can be locked straight for more stability.

BRAKE

There is a foot brake in the back that is not flip-flop-friendly.

FOLD/UNFOLD

You will need both hands to fold it, but it’s very easy and you won’t need to use your foot. It has an automatic lock that will lock the folded stroller in place. The folded dimensions are 41.5″L x 12″W x 9″H. It’s very compact!

There is a shoulder strap conveniently located in the back, so you can carry it over your shoulder. It weighs only 14 lbs, which is not bad compared to other strollers on the market.

CUP HOLDER

With the amount of coffee we need to stay awake, it’s a must-have item. LOL. My baby girl wakes me up at 5:30 a.m. every morning no matter how late she goes to bed! Argh… 5:30 a.m. is just not my time and I need a lot of coffee daily.

TRAVEL SYSTEM

This car seat adapter can be used with Britax Chaperone and B-safe infant car seats. You can also purchase a universal car seat adapter to use with popular car seats made by Chicco, Graco, and Peg Perego.

It is not often that an umbrella stroller can convert into a travel system. Big selling point for parents who want to have just one stroller.

The included adapter strap gives you the ability to use other popular car seats like Chicco, Graco, and Peg Perego.

It weighs ONLY 14 lbs! Don’t be confused by the information on the Britax site where it says the weight is 13 lbs. It’s 13 lbs without a canopy, but with the canopy, it weighs 14 lbs. As always, the weight info is all over the place.

Cons

-Small canopy. I would like to see a larger canopy or at least the “follow-the-sun” option. During summer, I like to shade my child as much as I can to avoid a sunburn.

I do put sunscreen on my baby girl, but I think extra protection wouldn’t hurt especially if I am outside for a long time.

Video Review

I found a great video review of B-Nimble made by Baby Gizmo. I like how optimistic Baby Gizmo is about the canopy.
