NEW! 2019 Cybex Mios 2 Stroller Review

Since there are not a lot of lightweight reversible seat strollers on the market, I was very excited to see a new Cybex Mios 2 model. A little brother to the Cybex Priam model, Mios 2 is a luxury lightweight stroller with a reversible seat and compact fold. It weighs only 19 lbs, but can also turn into a travel system or even a pram!

The retro-modern design together with a maximum functionality create a statement piece that is ideal for modern parents. The narrow frame of only 19.7″ and small foot print make it perfect for navigating busy city streets and tight spaces.

I was really impress not only by the sleek look, but also by great features like: huge expendable canopy that goes all the way down pass the bumper bar, the adjustable leather-like handle bar, all-wheels suspension, roomy basket, adjustable leg rest, flip-flop-friendly brake, swing-away leather-like bumper bar, and compact fold with auto-lock.

But, the best feature of Mios 2 is a reversible very roomy seat. It has one-hand lever recline that goes to a flat position suitable from birth and up to 55 lbs. It means you can put your NEWBORN right into the seat avoiding unnecessary car seat time (it’s not recommended to keep your newborn for more than 2 hours a day in the car seat).

MY RATING:

OVERALL

Of course I gave Mios 2 5 out of 5 stars because I think this is one of the best lightweight strollers on today’s market. The Cybex Mios 2 is a huge competition for Bugaboo Bee which is also a luxury reversible-seat lightweight stroller. If I had to choose between the two, I would diffidently go with Mios 2 because it has more compact fold, much higher weight capacity of 55 lbs (vs 37.5 lbs), easier to access basket, flip-flop-friendly brake, mesh seat back, bumper bar, and better canopy.

I also like the look of the Mios 2 much more than Bee 5 which reminds me of a wheelchair. LOL.The back of the seat and the legrest are made out of breathable mesh that is perfect for hot weather. We all know how easy little kids start to sweat and how important good air circulation is. Of courses there is a seat liner you can add to the seat for the cooler days.

PRICE

Of course, this luxury buggy comes at a luxury price. You can get Cybex Mios 2 in one of the seven beautiful colors with three different frame colors to choose from for around $649 – $820 (free shipping) depending on the color and fashion. It comes with a bumper bar only, rain cover and car seat adapters that work with Cybex and GB car seats only.

Detailed Review of Cybex Mios 2 2019 Stroller

Here is my detailed review of all the features with photos and overview video.

CANOPY

The canopy is really great. It has two large UVP 50+ panels plus another zipped in panel that you can expose for better coverage. You can see from the photo below that it goes pass the bumper bar. There is also a large dark mesh peekaboo window with closure without Velcro so you are not going to wake up your sleeping baby. It’s always great to have a mesh peekaboo window instead of plastic since it provides better air flow.

SEAT

The seat is very roomy and should fit an older child with no problem. Firstable, the seat weight capacity is 55 lbs and it has a tall seat back and a high canopy. It measures 15″ wide with 23″ seat back and a measurement of 25″ from the back of the seat to the top of the canopy. BTW, the average is around 19″ for the seat back and about 22″ for the canopy height. Plenty of room.

The seat is also reversible. All you need to do is fold the seat, unlock it, swing it around and click it back in. Of course you will need to take your child out of the seat first. LOL. The so called “memory buttons” make click-on and -off an easy task.

The seat has an one-hand lever recline that goes to a flat position suitable for a NEWBORN. Ability to put your newborn right into the seat is what all the parents want, but not many strollers have. I thing that this is a great feature for a lightweight model. If you want to put your young baby directly into the seat, I would suggest getting some kinds of infant insert. You can also replace the seat with the infant car seat or a bassinet.

Parents who leave in the warm climates will really like the removable seat liner that exposes a double mesh underneath. That’s exactly what you need on a hot summer day to avoid overheating your child. Together with the mesh in the canopy it will provide great air circulation.

HARNESS

It has an adjustable padded 5 point harness with a center release buckle.

HANDLEBAR

The handle bar goes up and down from 38″ all the way up to 42″ from the ground. Just like the bumper bar it is covered with faux leather. To avoid tipping the stroller backwards, hang your diaper bag on the frame using stroller hooks. You can also use it to hang your water bottle, or shopping bags.

BUMPER BAR

INCLUDED! It comes with a removable swing-away faux leather bumper bar that is very easy to clean. It’s also nice that you can fold the stroller with the bumper bar attached.

The leg rest is 9″ high (about average) and is adjustable.

BASKET

The basket is pretty roomy comparing to other lightweight strollers. Definitely larger than on umbrella models. You will be able to fit medium-large diaper bag with no problem. Because of the frame design, it’s easier to access in the front. The access in the back is slightly narrower, but you still will be able to get into your bag.

For even more storage I would recommend getting an universal stroller organizer. That way you can take not only your coffee cup, but also a LOT of stuff including keys, phone, water, wallet, snacks, diapers, toys, and more. The amount of stuff it can fit is unbelievable.

WHEELS

It rolls on four hard rubber wheels with 5.9″ in the front and 6.3″ wheels in the back. The front wheels are swivel, but can be locked straight. These wheels are almost the same as on Bugaboo Bee. While Mios 2 is designed for flat surfaces you can still take it on some mommy terrain like mulch and grass. The all-wheel suspension might not be as robust as on joggers, but I definitely helps to smooth out the bumps.

BRAKE

It’s always nice to see a flip-flop-friendly brake. No shoe scratches!

FOLD/UNFOLD

You can fold the stroller with the seat attached facing any direction. Now, they do advertise it as an one-hand fold, but in the last step you have to bend all the way down to the grown when bringing the handle bar down and then press it to activate the auto-lock. You definitely can’t hold your child at the same time… Maybe a phone? Anyways, it does have a standing fold and an auto-lock. It does fold to a compact package of 13″L x 19.7″W x 29.6″H.

BASSINET OPTION

You can turn your stroller into a stylish pram by replacing the seat with a matching bassinet called Cybex Carry Cot. It features a comfortable, extra wide mattress that ensures an ergonomically correct and comfortable lying position. The integrated UVP50+ sun canopy protects from sun, wind and rain. The carry cot weighs only 8 lbs and can accommodate a child from birth and up to 20 lbs. I retails for around $259.

TRAVEL SYSTEM OPTION

You can also turn your stroller into a travel system by replacing the seat with an infant car seat. The car seat adapters are included! It works Cybex and GB car seats.

Bugaboo Donkey2 2018 Stroller Review

The Bugaboo Donkey2 2018 is a luxury all-terrain stroller that converts from single into a double side-by-side model with just a few clicks. You can buy it as a single version and get a second kit later or you can buy it as a double if you are having twins.

The Donkey2 is the ONLY stroller on the market that adjusts from single to side-by-side double mode with the frame going from only 23.6″ wide to 29″ wide. The coolest thing is that the seat is still 11″ wide which is a normal seat width. How did the do it? Well, they put the wheels under the seat instead of having them on the sides.

But that’s not all. The Donkey2 is all about storage! It comes with a large side basket that together with the basket underneath the seat can haul a lot of stuff. Plus, you can hang your diaper bag off the handle bar giving you even more storage space. Great for grocery shopping!

This buggy is perfect for active growing family that doesn’t want to slow down despite having multiple kids. The included bassinet option makes it ready for a newborn.

Chicco Bravo Trio Travel System Review

The Chicco Bravo Trio Travel System is one of the most popular budget-friendly travel systems on today’s market. For under $400 you get a great stroller with bunch of features and one of the safest car seats in the world. You really can’t beat that!

The Bravo Trio is designed for everyday use, but mostly on flat surfaces. The all-wheel suspension helps to smooth out the bumps. You will love the roomy seat with deep almost flat recline, adjustable handle bar with foam cover, huge basket that can fit all of your groceries, included parent organizer that is perfect for small items, and a large canopy with peekaboo window.

But the main feature that I like the most is how easy and compact it folds. And since it only weighs 23 lbs you can easily through it into your trunk.

The included Chicco KeyFit 30 is one of the best car seats on today’s market. My daughter absolutely loved it! It comes with a car seat adapter and one car seat base for the car. You can use the car seat on top of the main seat or the stroller, or you can remove the seat of the stroller and use only the frame. While it does come with a car seat adapter there is no bumper bar nor child’s tray included. I would definitely get a child’s tray too, because it’s super useful. Your child can put a sippy cup in it, toys, snacks or just use it to pull himself up.

Baby Jogger City Premier 2017 Stroller Review

The new Baby Jogger City Premier (it was called City Metro at the ABC Kids Expo) is a single version of the popular City Select model and an upgraded version of the City Versa. This new model took all the best features form Select and Versa creating serious competition for full size reversible seat strollers like Nuna Mixx, Nuna IVVI,  Armadillo Flip XT, and Britax Affinity.

It has a reversible seat with a deep recline suitable for a newborn. The seat can accommodate a child up to 50 lbs. The adjustable leg rest goes up and down and also extends to provide more stretching room.

The adjustable handle bar telescopes out giving tall parents more leg room. The large canopy goes down almost to the bumper bar and has two peekaboo window with magnetic closures. The hand brake is super flip-flop-friendly! LOL.

You will also like the large easy-to-access basket underneath the seat. The foam-filled wheels are a great size (12″ and 8″) and will never go flat. Unlike City Select, Premier has a VERY compact fold with the seat folding in-half. I would say this is as compact as reversible-seat strollers get.

Bugaboo Bee 5 2017/2018 Stroller Review

Bugaboo Bee 5 is a fourth generation of a Bee model which is a luxury lightweight stroller that has a reversible seat. For some reason they did skip number ‘4’.

The Bee 5 model is designed for urban lifestyle where parents live life on the fly. It’s good for running errands, using public transit and traveling.

The large basket can fit a lot of stuff when going grocery shopping. The narrow frame allows to navigate in tight spaces like elevators, narrow store aisles or doctor’s office. The extendable reversible seat grows with your baby providing her with much needed comfort.

The deep one-hand recline is great for long naps and quick dipper changes. The wheels are small, but will be able to tackle SOME mommy terrain like grass, mulch or gravel.

The all-wheel suspension helps to absorb the bumps. Keep in mind that this is NOT an all-terrain stroller so long walks at the park or around town with uneven surface might be very bumpy.

You can turn your stroller into a pram by getting a bassinet. This is a great option for parents who want to buy only one stroller. This way you can walk with a pram for the first 6 months and then replace it with a seat.  Or you can convert it into a travel system by replacing the seat with an infant car seat.

For 2017 here have been a couple minor updates from Bee 3 model:

1) They’ve added new color combinations and different customization options so you can customize it from top to bottom

2) It’s now easier to adjust the height and the depth of the seat

3) They’ve added a small pocket inside of the basket for small essentials so you have place to put your keys. I would rather see them add a small pocket in the back of the seat.

4) The suspension on all wheels got improved to provide a smoother ride.

Note: There has been NO change for 2018.

I gave Bee 5 4 out of 5 stars because despite some of the updates it’s still missing a peekaboo window, has hard to access basket, the fold is very bulky, it doesn’t include cup holder, and the buckle is a puzzle-piece. But, the main problem I have with it is a very high price. If a compact one-hand fold is important for you, I would suggest looking at Cybex Iris M-Air model. Iris is also light, compact, has reversible seat and huge basket.

Overall, I think Bee 5 a great stroller for on-the-go parents who want a lightweight stroller with a bassinet option and a reversible seat. Even after all of the great upgrades, it still looks like a wheel chair. Right? LOL. Unfortunately, the price didn’t get any lower. You can get the stroller frame with the seat and a canopy for around $789 depending on the color.

Stokke Xplory V5 Stroller Review

The Stokke Xplory V5 is a luxury stroller that has a unique frame design that doesn’t look like any other stroller. Aside from the stylish look, its main feature is the ability to adjust the seat seat up and down the frame bringing your baby closer to you.

I really like that feature because being close to your baby promotes better bonding and reinforces sense of security. You can not only adjust the seat, but also the handle bar which makes it perfect for much taller and much shorter parents.

Xplory V5 is made for parents who live in an urban environment and need a stroller for flat surfaces like going to the mall or walking around on the sidewalk. It doesn’t do well on rougher terrain. This stroller is definitely a showstopper! If you don’t like a lot of attention, it is not for you.

The Xplory V5 also features large canopy with mesh panel, reversible roomy seat, adjustable handle bar, and flip-flop friendly brake. Just like in Bugaboo all the action pieces are in white so you can easily figure out how to adjust things. Very convenient. The seat is designed to use from 6 month and up to 45 lbs. There is a carrycot option in case you want to remove the seat and convert it into a pram. You can also replace the seat with a car seat by purchasing a car seat adapter. This stroller is not light weighing at 27 lbs with the seat/carrycot.

If you want your baby to have these pair of wheels, prepare your wallet! Stokke Xplory V5 is one of the MOST expensive strollers on today’s market. You can get it for around $1,129. The stroller includes the frame, seat, bumper bar, storage bag, bug net, and rain cover. There is no cup included. All other accessories have to be purchase separately.

I gave it only 3 out of 5 stars because aside from a hefty price tag and lack of included accessories, I didn’t like the multiple-piece bulky fold, lack of storage, non-swing away bumper bar that needs to be removed all the time and no ‘sleep’ position recline in front facing mode of the seat.

But, my main problem is the flat-surface wheels. I think for that price you should have good size wheels and suspension that can tackle some of the terrain. The ride gets very bumpy if you get of the flat surface. This wouldn’t work for me because I like to take long walks at the park where the trails can get rough. Also, the canopy and the foot rest could use some improvement.

While I really do like the design, I think it’s expensive, not practical and has much less features than other less expensive strollers. I would rather get it’s main competition Bugaboo Cameleon which has great wheels, adjustable suspension, large basket, swing-away bumper bar, weighs only 21 lbs (comparing to Xplory at 27lbs. right?) and comes with a matching bassinet.

Baby Jogger Summit X3 Stroller Review

Baby Jogger Summit X3 is an award-winning jogging stroller that will go through anything no matter how rough the terrain gets. This updated model has all the features parents want in a jogger like full protection canopy, roomy seat, large basket, and easy fold.

The roomy seat can accommodate a child from birth and up to  75 lbs (that is like 9 year old). You can also use it from birth with an infant cat seat or a pram. The canopy is absolutely HUGE and has two viewing windows.

The all-wheel suspension and air-filled tires make it a smooth ride. The front wheel is swivel, but can be locked straight. I love the remote front-wheel lock which is located on the side of the frame instead of the wheel. You don’t need to bend down and touch that dirty wheel.

The hand brake makes it easy to slow down when going down the hill. There is also an adjustable tracking to get your stroller perfectly straight while you are running.

The Summit X3 is very easy to navigate and steer. It’s truly a one-hand stroller. But, the best feature of X3 is the ONE-HAND fold! Super easy. The only thing I didn’t like is that there is no auto lock and no standing fold so you will need to use you other hand to lock it manually.

Baby Jogger City Mini Zip Stroller Review

city-mini-zip-stroller20Baby Jogger City Mini Zip is a lightweight stroller that is some where in between the full size and an umbrella stroller. While having a lot of great features like large canopy, roomy seat, deep recline, and adjustable leg rest it has a very compact three-dimensional fold where it folds not only vertically, but also horizontally.

This small package is 50%  more compact than on standard umbrella strollers and is 1/8 the volume of the open stroller. Great for traveling! And since it weighs only 17 lbs, it’s super easy to load in and out of the car. Although it says that this is a one-hand fold, I did need both hands to push it together to activate the auto lock.

Keep in mind, that despite it’s name ‘Baby Jogger’ this is NOT a jogging stroller. I know many parents get confused by the name of the brand. This buggy is designed for running errands, quick trips to the store and traveling. While it could be your ONLY stroller because it does have a travel system option, I would recommend using it as a second lightweight stroller instead of an umbrella model because of the wheel size.
