Cybex Agis M-Air4 Stroller Review

cybex-m-air4-16The Cybex Agis M-Air4 model is very similar to the M-Air3 except it has four wheels instead of three. Everything else is pretty much the same. Because of the extra wheel, it weighs a little more, but has a slightly more compact fold.

I get many emails from parents asking me if four wheels are better than three. In my opinion, it’s not big of a difference. The four wheels do feel more stable when you are going over rougher terrain, but three wheels are easier to navigate in tight spaces. Which one you prefer is really up to you. I have three-wheel strollers and four-wheel strollers and can’t say that I would prefer one over the other.

The M-Air4 rolls on four hard rubber wheels with 6″ wheels in the front and 9.5″ wheels in the back. Just like M-Air3 it features a large canopy with a dark mesh window, large basket, roomy seat, flip-flop-friendly brake, all-wheel suspension, adjustable handle bar, swing-away bumper bar, and a one-hand compact fold.

As I’ve mentioned above, there is a slight weight increase. The M-Air3 weighs 17 lbs, while M-Air4 weighs 18 lbs. The 1 lb is not a big of a deal since you are still getting all the features plus a compact fold.  The M-Air4 can accommodate a child from birth and up to 55 lbs. Just like all Cybex M models, it can be converted into a travel system or a stylish pram. You can remove the seat completely and use only the frame of the stroller.

By releasing M-Air4 model the Cybex is trying to compete with the popular Britax B-Agile4, Baby Jogger City Mini 4-wheel and Mamas & Papas Armadillo strollers. As much as I love Armadillo, I think I would personally go with M-Air4 because it has more features like: adjustable handle bar, taller seat back, wider seat, included bumper bar, higher weight limit of 55 lbs, bassinet option, and larger rear wheels. The color option and the design is also more modern than on Britax and Baby Jogger. Check out this chart to see how Agis M-Air3 compares to the other Cybex models.

Of course I gave it 5 out of 5 stars because it has more features than the competition and still weighs only 18 lbs. Also, I was pleasantly surprised by a reasonable price. You can get it right now in one of the five beautiful colors for around $279 on Amazon. It comes with a swing-away bumper bar.

Features

-Huge canopy. Like all of the Cybex M models, it has a large three-panel canopy with a zipped-in mesh panel that goes down all the way to the included bumper bar. The dark mesh provides shade while improving air circulation. Since there is no peekaboo window you can use the dark mesh panel to look at your child. I wish there was a mesh cover for when it gets windy.

-Very roomy seat. The seat is 13.5″ wide with a 20″ seat back and a measurement of 26″ from the back of the seat to the top of the canopy. As you can see, the seat is a little wider and the canopy is a little higher than on Cybex Balios M that has a reversible seat. You taller toddler will have no problem fitting in. It is also wider and taller than on Britax B-Agile4 and City Mini4 strollers.

The seat has a strap recline system and goes to almost a flat position suitable for a newborn. You will need one hand to recline the seat and both hands to bring it back. If you want to put a young baby into the seat, I would recommend using an infant insert for additional support. The seat can accommodate a child from birth and up to 55 lbs.

-5-point harness. It has an adjustable padded 5-point harness with a center release buckle. The good news is that the waist straps are connected to the shoulder straps so there are no puzzle pieces. Very easy to lock and unlock.

-Adjustable handle bar. The telescoping handle bar goes from 37″ up to 42″ from the ground. Great for taller and shorter parents.

cybex-m-air4-3

-Bumper bar. INCLUDED! It comes with a nice swing-away removable bumper bar.

cybex-agis-m-air3-2

-Large basket. The basket is large, but is a little harder to access than on Cybex Balios M because of the lower position of the seat and the crossbar. You will be able to fit a larger diaper bag in it plus some small essentials.

-Flip-flop-friendly brake. No more shoe scratches! Why can’t all strollers make a this kind of brake?

–Wheels. It rolls on four hard rubber wheels with 6″ in the front and 9.5″ wheels in the back. These wheels are designed for everyday life like going to the park, mall, or running errands. They are not all-terrain like on Cybex Balios M, but can handle some uneven pavement, grass or mulch. The wheels are only slightly larger than on Britax B-Agile 4. I really like the white inner color which I think makes it look more modern.

-All-wheel suspension. Like all Cybex M models Agis M-Air4 has all-wheel suspension.

-One-hand fold. Another great feature that ALL Cybex M models have is the ONE-HAND FOLD. This is the type of fold all parents are looking for. All you need to do is to pull on two straps located in the middle of the seat and the stroller will fold in half. Easy! The fold is very compact and there is an automatic lock and standing fold. The folded dimensions are: 29.5″L x 22.5″W x 14″H. For comparison the Britax B-Agile 4 is 29″L x 23″W x 10″H. While the B-Agile4 is a little more compact, it does not have a bumper bar nor an adjustable handle bar.

-Bassinet option.  You can turn your stroller into a stylish pram by replacing the seat with a matching bassinet called Cybex Carry Cot M. It features a comfortable, extra wide mattress that ensures an ergonomically correct and comfortable lying position. The integrated UVP50+ sun canopy protects from sun, wind and rain. The carry cot weighs only 8 lbs and can accommodate a child from birth and up to 20 lbs. It works with ALL Cybex M models. How great is that?

-Travel system option. You can also convert your stroller into a travel system by using it with one of the Cybex infant car seats. You can put the car seat on top of the main seat without removing it, or you can remove the seat completely and put the car seat right into the frame. I like the look of the Cybex infant car seat with just the stroller frame. Now, as much as I like Cybex car seats, I wish it would work with other popular brands.

Cons

-No mesh window closure. The large mesh panel is a big plus, but I wish it had a closure in case it’s windy, rainy or sunny.

-Works only with Cybex car seats. I wish it would work with other popular car seats. While the Cybex car seats are at the top of my list, they are a little pricey. So it might be hard to afford for parents who are on the budget.

Where to buy it

My favorite place to buy strollers and a lot of other baby items is Amazon. It usually has the lowest prices, free shipping, free returns and no sales tax. How great is that? You can get Cybex Agis M-Air4 in one of the five beautiful colors for around $279 on Amazon (free shipping/free returns and no sales tax). It comes with a bumper bar. All other accessories like cup holder or infant car seat adapter needs to be purchased separately.

  1. Hello!
How is it that stroller is only compatible with Cybex seats when actually almost all Maxi Cosy and Quinny seats use the same adapters?
Can you comment on that? Is it from experience or maybe you’re misinformed?
    Thank you.

  2. Hello! On the picture with 3 strollers, what colour is this purple one? is it mystic pink purple or grape juice purple ?

    Thank you!
